Joanne Perratt

“It was thanks to my nephews!” That was Joanne Perratt’s response when asked how she first came to support the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

When Joanne’s nephews were young, she gifted them a subscription to CWF’s children’s magazine. “It was my first introduction to CWF. I became interested and wanted to help.” Joanne has now been a loyal donor for more than 25 years.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Joanne worked with the National Research Council, but she has since retired to enjoy a more unstructured lifestyle. One constant in her life has been her regular support of CWF. “I love wildlife and have been really moved by some of the difficult situations they have to face. It’s why I respect CWF so much. They are trying to protect creatures that can’t protect themselves.” This is the reason Joanne has donated to CWF so faithfully over the years. It’s also why she has remembered the Canadian Wildlife Federation with a Legacy Gift in her Will.

For Joanne, the decision to leave a Legacy Gift was an easy one. She knew instinctively that CWF was an organization she wanted to continue to support. “CWF does wonderful work and keeps me informed as to what’s going on.” Joanne has left her future gift undesignated. No one can predict the future, and Joanne is pleased that CWF will use her gift where the need is greatest at the time. She knows it will be used wisely. “I’ve left CWF a percentage of the residue of my estate. It’s not a huge gift, but I know that Legacy Gifts add up and together can help make a real difference.” Insightful words indeed.

Today, Joanne leads a fulfilling life in Ottawa. She volunteers with an animal rescue organization, helps weekly at a local seniors’ centre, and spends as much quality time with her family as she can. She also encourages others to consider leaving a Legacy Gift to CWF. “The Canadian Wildlife Federation and I sure have one thing in common — we both care deeply about wildlife.” A gift of any amount in one’s estate plans can help ensure that CWF’s conservation efforts across Canada will continue now and long into the future.
