Welcome,

Betty Nixon

Looking to the future. Planning ahead.

Betty Nixon

The Canadian Wildlife Federation recently received a $100,000 Legacy Gift from the estate of the late of Betty Nixon.

By all accounts, the late Betty Lorraine Nixon lived a quiet but satisfying life. Born in London, Ontario, and raised in Thunder Bay, she moved with her parents Dorothy and Charles to Windsor, Ontario, where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked as a mortgage specialist with a national bank, was active in her church and the wider community, and especially enjoyed music. Betty was an accomplished pianist and sang in choirs for years. She enjoyed golf and she excelled at bridge.

When she died at age 89 in September 2019, she left her estate to eight charities, including the Canadian Wildlife Federation. Her parents had long supported the conservation of Canada’s wildlife, and so her gift was a tribute to them as well. Betty’s many friends knew of her kind and generous nature and to them her gift was no surprise.

For Jan Delman, the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Legacy Giving Manager, she is confident that Betty’s gift will go a long way to support the substantial challenges of the future: expanding wildlife and environmental education to all Canadians, empowering Canadians to act as wildlife advocates, and harnessing the best science and conservation practices to conserve endangered Canadian wildlife and natural areas. These are challenging goals, but ones made much easier thanks to the wonderful generosity of people like the late Betty Nixon.

Please, won’t you consider creating your own Legacy Gift for the Canadian Wildlife Federation? Gifts of any amount can help us meet the future with greater confidence and to continue to inspire the conservation of Canada’s wildlife and its habitat. You may direct your gift to a specific project or program or, like the late Betty Nixon, leave your Legacy Gift undesignated so it can be used where the need is greatest.

Over the years, the Canadian Wildlife Federation has learned how Canadians deeply value our inspiring wildlife and its natural habitat. It is our legacy. It defines who we are. It defines who you are.

For more information about leaving a Legacy Gift, please contact Jan Delman, CWF’s Legacy Giving Manager to discuss the opportunities available to you to protect your estate and to arrange the exact type of Legacy Gift you wish to leave.
