You are never too young to make a difference. That is especially true when it comes to the positive impact you can have on the natural world around you, our wildlife and the natural spaces they call home all across Canada. At the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), young people often ask us, “how can I get involved and what can I do to help the planet?” When you are aged 15 to 18, the answer is simple: become part of the CWF WILD Outside program.
If there’s one thing nature teaches us, it’s how to adapt. At the Canadian Wildlife Federation, we’re applying that lesson to our WILD Outside initiative. We are constantly monitoring the Covid-19 situation in each individual city where the WILD Outside program is hosted, adjusting and adapting programming so we’re in compliance. When we do get together, whether inside or outside, we remain vigilant in adhering to all the proper protocols required to keep our WILD Outside staff and participants safe. Those youth who have joined the WILD Outside program continue to experience incredible outdoor adventures and experiences while actively participating in our community project planning and execution. We encourage interested youth age 15 to 18 to continue to register for our WILD Outside program. Nature has never needed young, idealistic allies more than it does right now, so be sure to register for a WILD Outside program near you! WILD Outside is calling! Let’s start planning for a brighter future for wildlife together.
WILD Outside is a national conservation-based youth leadership program designed for youth ages 15- 18. It is free to participate and fully inclusive. By participating in this unique and flexible program young Canadians will experience opportunities for personal growth while developing and encouraging their own “conservation ethic.” Learning alongside their peers from our CWF facilitators, youth who join in the WILD Outside program will enjoy opportunities for outdoor adventure and immersive nature experiences. They will also connect with other local participants in the planning and delivery of community-based conservation service projects in their own community designed to have a positive impact on their local environment.
If you are age 15 to 18, whether you are in high school or no longer attending, you are eligible to participate in a WILD Outside program in our area. Youth under age 18 will require the permission or a parent or guardian to participate. Participation in the program will not interfere with your school schedule.
Eligibility: Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
