Welcome,

Gary Breitkreuz: Co-recipient of 2009 CWF Past Presidents Award

Gary Breitkreuz from Saskatchewan is the co-recipient of the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Past Presidents’ Canadian Legislator Award.

Gary Breitkreuz has been honoured with the Past Presidents’ Canadian Legislator Award alongside Larry Bagnell.  The two legislators are being recognized due to their non-partisan Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus in which they are co-chairs. Both gentlemen have united MPs and senators from all four major political parties to promote the common goal of valuing the Canadian outdoors and natural heritage. Their dedication to preservation of natural spaces allows Canadians to continue environmentally sustainable activities.

The Past Presidents’ Canadian Legislator Award was established in 1988 by the past presidents of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. This award is presented annually to an elected legislator in recognition of a significant contribution toward the conservation of wildlife in Canada.

“CWF’s Award Program recognizes the excellent work for wildlife being carried out across our country,” said Wade Luzny, CWF Executive Vice-President.  “We are thrilled with the depth and magnitude of all the nominations we receive.  These awards are one way to pay tribute to what so many people have made their life work — to ensure our natural heritage remains for future generations.”

The Conservation Achievement Awards comprises of six categories and honour an individual or an organization’s commitment to wildlife in Canada.  Nominees include volunteers, professionals, youth and conservationists from all walks of life concerned with a host of environmental topics.
