| Bob Gruszecki and CWF President Larry Leigh |
Bob Gruszecki from Calgary, Alberta has been awarded the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Stan Hodgkiss Canadian Outdoorsperson of the Year Award.
Mr. Gruszecki exemplifies what it means to commit to conservation. He takes a hands-on approach to wildlife when he’s in and outside the office. He is a member of numerous boards, associations and foundations in Alberta and also takes great pride in volunteering in the community. Each endeavour he undertakes shares the same goal ― conservation for wildlife. His leadership and dedication to wildlife in Alberta are the reasons why his work has become a blueprint for the delivery of outdoor programs across North America.
This Award was established in 1975 to honour a Canadian outdoorsperson who has demonstrated an active commitment to conservation in Canada. The award was renamed to honour CWF founding president, Stan Hodgkiss.
“CWF’s Award Program recognizes the excellent work for wildlife being carried out across our country,” said Wade Luzny, CWF Executive Vice-President. “We are thrilled with the depth and magnitude of all the nominations we receive. These awards are one way to pay tribute to what so many people have made their life work — to ensure our natural heritage remains for future generations.”
The CWF Conservation Achievement Awards comprise six categories and honour an individual or an organization’s commitment to wildlife in Canada. Nominees include volunteers, professionals, youth, and conservationists from all walks of life concerned with a host of environmental topics.
