Imagine you’re a Monarch Butterfly flying over a meadow on your long migratory journey. You fly from flower to flower drinking nectar and resting along the way. But to make it to your destination you need connected places full of blooming native plants.
That’s where our seed drill comes in!
This special machine plants native seeds at just the right depth and spacing, helping grow the meadows that Monarchs and other pollinators depend on. By restoring these habitats, we’re creating the “stepping stones” Monarchs need to travel safely across the landscape.
Now, we want your help to give this important machine a name that reflects its role in supporting Monarchs and their journey.
Let your imagination take flight! What would a Monarch call it?
Winning prize:
- $100 Canadian Tire gift card
- Monarch plushie
- One-year subscription to Canadian Wildlife or WILD magazine
- Your selected name featured on the seed drill
- A copy of the seed drill decal for you to keep
The submitter of the selected name will be contacted directly to arrange delivery of the prize. The winning name will be revealed at our Monarch Blitz and Recognition Event on Saturday, August 8 at the Lanark County Administration Building, 99 Christie Lake Rd, Perth, ON at 10 a.m.
Contest closes Monday, July 20, 2026.
