Enter the Canadian Grasslands iNaturalist Contest
In Canada’s grasslands, waves of native grasses sway in the wind, meadowlarks sing from fence posts and wildflowers bloom across the landscape. Beneath your feet, soils host organisms and root systems that store vast amounts of carbon. All around you is one of Canada’s most important, and most threatened ecosystems.
Grasslands provide habitat for countless plants and animals, store carbon, support pollinators and sustain biodiversity. But to conserve these special places, we first need to understand them.
This August, we’re inviting nature lovers, photographers, birders, hikers, ranchers and curious explorers of all ages to join the Canadian Grasslands iNaturalist Contest. By joining and contributing observations through iNaturalist, you’ll help build and share valuable knowledge about the species that call Canada’s grasslands home, while having a chance to win an exciting prize package!
