Scholarships

At the Canadian Wildlife Federation, our journey has been about creating awareness, education and action for habitat and wildlife. Along the way, we take pride in recognizing the efforts of individuals who strive to make a difference towards this goal. Learn about the scholarship programs we are proud to support.

Scholarship Summary:

  1. To be eligible, all students must be enrolled full-time in a Canadian post secondary institution.
  2. Transcripts are required as proof of enrollment and academic performance.
  3. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 or the equivalent is required.
  4. Up to three references from professors or employers may be attached (500 word maximum).
  5. The amounts may range from $1,000 to $7,000 depending on the scholarship fund and availability in the year.
  6. Distribution may be divided into two payments.
  7. Both undergrads and graduate students are eligible.
  8. Graduate students do not need to be in a thesis-based program.

Orville Erickson Memorial Scholarships

The Orville Erickson Memorial Scholarships are awarded once per year to post-secondary students in the field of conservation. The fund is administered by the Canadian Wildlife Foundation and is financed entirely by private-sector donations in memory of Orville Erickson, a Canadian conservationist and past CWF president.


Indigenous Manitoba Wildlife Endowment Fund

The purpose of the Indigenous Manitoba Wildlife Fellowship Endowment Fund is to provide financial assistance, based on academic performance, to support research students (Canadian Indigenous People, Canadian Citizens and permanent residents of Canada). Preference will be given to an Indigenous student who is in a Manitoba-based Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate Studies or is a member of a post-secondary Indigenous educational institute focussed on the conservation of wildlife in Northern Manitoba. The fund was established in 2024. Applications are adjudicated by a committee.

The Frances Elizabeth Hilder Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the Frances Elizabeth Hilder Scholarship is to provide financial assistance, based on academic performance, to post secondary students in the field of forest conservation. This endowment was created in 1999. Applications are adjudicated by a committee.
