Welcome,

Broken Flight

Q. We have a robin who has been flinging itself at our door and windows. It seems extremely determined, and I’m afraid it’s going to get hurt. Can you tell me why it’s doing this and how I can prevent it from getting injured?

A. Robins, crows and cardinals are notorious for doing this. They see their own reflection in glass and think the reflection is a mate or competition. Your best bet would be to hang a deterrent like CDs, window decals or even post-it notes in the window to help break up its reflection.
