A public health professional and retired university leader, John served as a professor at the University of Waterloo, where he led graduate programs in public health, health informatics and health evaluation. An outdoorsmen and active volunteer, he contributes to conservation through the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters, including leadership on fisheries and accessibility initiatives. John lives in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia with his wife Roberta, where they enjoy fishing, hiking and supporting their community.
