This kit takes an innovative approach to educating young people about their environment. It includes a lesson plan designed to enlighten students about the ecological value of shorelines and the issues affecting them, and it is packed with resources to help young people do habitat improvement projects alongside lakes, wetlands, rivers, and oceans.

   This kit constitutes a long-term lesson plan. By doing outdoor activities, students will become aware of the ecological value of shorelines to wildlife and people; learn how human actions can benefit or harm these habitats; assess the health of a shoreline; collect and interpret data; create a conservation action plan; select and implement shoreline habitat projects; cooperate with their communities; and acquire a sense of responsible stewardship.
