When multiple generations come together to garden for wildlife, they make an exponential impact on our environment creating habitat for a variety of wildlife, including birds, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals and pollinators. At the Canadian Wildlife Federation, we connect youth and older communities with nature as they engage in gardening conservation projects and knowledge sharing. WILD Generations Gardening Club promotes intergenerational mentorship in gardening for wildlife. The program supports youth and senior serving organizations with resources to empower youth and older adults towards enhancing community gardens into wildlife -friendly habitat. When we enrich our outdoor spaces with natural sources of food, water, shelter for wildlife and practice earth-friendly gardening, we contribute to healthy ecosystems and create habitats to support animals that pollinate our fruits and vegetables and offer valuable services to our environment.
CWF is dedicated to ensuring that our wildlife and natural spaces remain a treasured part of our country. The challenge is inspiring that same conservation ethic in new generations of Canadians to ensure they develop their own passion for wildlife conservation. At CWF, we develop education programs to help connect Canadians to nature. We encourage Canadians of all ages to participate in individual conservation actions and to experience, enjoy and value nature. In an ever-increasing urban society, the greatest challenge is developing those connections to our natural world. Education and experiential learning are key pillars in programming designed to meet this challenge.
The future of conservation is in the hands of young Canadians. Developing an appreciation for the natural world all around you is the first step to ensuring a brighter future for wildlife. The Canadian Wildlife Federation WILD Outside program is a fun way for youth aged 15 to 18 to get outside and develop a profound nature connection. Come get involved in the program specifically designed to inspire youth to explore and discover the nature world around them. WILD Outside is calling!!
