Welcome,

Get Gardening and Help Wildlife!

Thank you for Sharing!

We love seeing what you’re up to in the garden, and we are so encouraged that you’re taking steps to help wildlife on your property. Thank you for your submission.

Making your property suitable for wildlife is an enjoyable and important way you can make a difference. Each wildlife-friendly garden is a habitat stepping stones that creates pathways for wildlife. Not to mention, land with gardens tends to have increased property value, and there are so many health benefits to gain from experiencing nature in the garden. We hope you’ll keep up the good work for wildlife and enjoy your time in the garden.

  • Buy a native plant to add to your garden.
  • Use shredded leaves, compost, or aged manure to enrich your garden soil.
  • Take time to observe the insects, birds and other animals that visit your garden, and upload your observations using the iNaturalist app or at iNaturalist.ca. iNaturalist helps you identify the plants and animals around you. Every observation, from the most common to the rarest species, contributes to a growing global biodiversity database.
  • Inspire others by sharing your garden pictures and plans on social media using #cwfgardens.
  • Check out our Gardening for Wildlife Facebook group, an online community where you can learn and share.
