Thank you for stepping up and showing just how much you care about waterways and the creatures that call them home. No matter how many pledges you made over the week, please know that every little bit helps!

We hope that you learned something new about our country’s great waterways – our rivers, oceans, lakes and streams. We hope you felt compelled to act after learning about the threats they face. And most importantly, we hope that you felt empowered. You might be only one person, but when you take a step to turn the tide on these threats, you’re standing by wildlife. And you never know who you might inspire – a friend, a family member, a neighbour – your effort did not go unnoticed.

We must make our voices heard so government is encouraged to take action to conserve Canada’s rivers, lakes and oceans, as well as the diverse wildlife that depends on them.

With over two million lakes and rivers and 20 per cent of the world’s freshwater, Canada has an incredible abundance of aquatic natural resources. Canadians share a deep connection to freshwater. Many of us enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing or simply admiring the scenery of a natural lake or wild river.
