Q & A
Clare Stone

Hometown:
Ottawa, ON
What conservation issue is closest to your heart?
Some conservation issues that are close to my heart include sustainable forest management, ocean pollution and habitat management for reptiles and amphibians.
What are you hoping to learn from CCC?
I’m ready to tackle any activity or challenge. I know there will be many exciting challenges, but I’m looking forward to this unique and amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to start this adventure and see other parts of Canada.
Who/what inspired you to care about conservation?
Wildlife itself has inspired me to care about conservation. Ever since I was young, I have been a quiet person who happens to run into animals in the wild. Each experience and wildlife encounter soon turned into a natural curiosity, respect and love for the animals we share our planet with.
If you could sit down with anyone in the world and have tea or coffee, who would it be? And why?
Jane Goodall. Jane is such an inspiring woman. I have been lucky enough to go see her in Ottawa and in Toronto at her speaker series events. She sees the light in the negative situations about the state of our environment and encourages positive change.

My Experience So Far

The Algonquin Adventure

Stage 1

Group 6 CCC members will be releasing their inner Canadians during a winter trip through Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park. The trip will build their experience over the 10 days. They will start with five days of traditional snowshoeing travel and warm camping. They will have the opportunity to camp in the cold as part of a mid-trip challenge so they are experiencing a winter expedition in a variety of ways. The final five days will feature a combination of dogsledding and snowshoeing where they will be separate for portions of the day, refining their skills in each area and coming together at the end of each day.
