Just like the leopard shark, you easily get spooked. These sharks are timid and divers and snorkelers may have a hard time catching a glimpse of it before it swims away. This shark is found in cool to warm temperate waters often in sandy/muddy bays. Although the leopard shark is fairly common in bays and estuaries, they are popular in both the commercial and recreational anglers fishing world. In the 1990’s, the State of California increased its efforts to protect this species.
