Dr. Doug Schindler

Doug Schindler is the Principal of Joro Consultants Inc. and has over 25 years of experience in boreal forest wildlife ecology, management, and research and program development across Manitoba and Canada. Doug is a recognized boreal woodland caribou biologist with significant experience and knowledge in all regions of Manitoba. He has designed, implemented, and conducted multi-disciplinary research and management projects involving industry, government, stakeholders, and First Nations. Doug is a competent wildlife biologist and terrestrial ecologist with significant experience in research study design, implementation, environmental assessments, and environmental monitoring.

Jill Oakes studies the relationships between people, belief systems, and the environment. She is also interested in the meaning and importance of traditional activities, gender equity in aviation, physical activity as medicine, and works with Inuit, Metis, and First Nations elders to document traditional material culture. Jill is recognized for her decades of field research with her husband, biologist Dr. Rick Riewe, throughout the circumpolar region.
