- What conservation issue is closest to your heart?
- Preserving and maintaining our watersheds and waterways. Living so close to the Great Lakes I’ve come to understand how extremely vital they both are to so many aspects of our daily lives.
- What are you hoping to learn from CCC?
- I expect this adventure to be challenging, inspiring, captivating and a lot of fun as well. I’m excited to build connections with the people and program leaders I meet and hope to exchange lots of ideas and opinions.
- Who/what inspired you to care about conservation?
- My interest in conservation started with my travels with my family. They wanted us to explore the country, and being exposed to the Canadian West and East and everything in between really made me appreciate the beauty and subsequent fragility that our environment contains.
- If you could sit down with anyone in the world and have tea or coffee, who would it be? And why?
- I think having a conversation with Charles Darwin would be absolutely captivating.
My Experience So Far
The group dubbed “The Mountain Goats” will enjoy a challenging journey of self-discovery and exploration, hiking through the terrain of the spectacular Canadian Rocky Mountains. They will travel distances each day, sharing responsibilities including campsite management, cooking, navigation and group leadership as they follow the footsteps of inspired artists and adventurers, seekers and sages. This is more than learning the technical skills of backpacking – this is an adventure designed to illustrate why the wilderness environment is the best teacher.
