My Blog
Hometown:

What conservation issue is closest to your heart?
The protection of natural resources – trees, animals, wetlands; environment education – teaching people about the issues at hand; tourism and conservation – developing sustainable ways to grow the outdoor tourism industry.
What are you hoping to learn from CCC?
I would like to create connections with like-minded people in the conservation field, improve my outdoor and paddling skills, and create a meaningful project to develop in my hometown.
Who/what inspired you to care about conservation?
Our natural environment. I am awestruck by the natural environment we have in Canada. My personal connection came from working in the outdoor industry, because it allows me to have a unique personal relationship with the environment.
If you could sit down with anyone in the world and have tea or coffee, who would it be? And why?
Winston Churchill. I love learning about history, WWII in particular. I think it would be interesting to hear about the war from the prospective of one of its most influential characters.

My Experience So Far

Putting the Fun in Fundy

Stage 1

For Group 11 CCC members, the adventure begins in New Brunswick, where members set off for a paddling adventure on the Bay of Fundy. There they will practice their paddling and wilderness camp skills before setting off to kayak from Back Bay to Oak Bay, through Passamaquoddy Bay via the lower St. Croix River. Along the way the team will have the opportunity to be awe-struck by the scenery while enjoying all that Fundy has to offer.

Conservation Field Learning

Stage 2

Location: Ontario

Hosting Organization: Algonquin Wildlife Research Station and Algonquin Park (co-partnership)

Description: CCC participants will be involved in 3 main types of tasks: site operational, research facilitation, and station outreach/promotion. Site operational tasks will include the jobs that allow the station to continue to run day to day and maintain a culture of continuous self-improvement. Research facilitation will include diverse tasks that may overlap with site operational tasks. Station outreach and promotion will occur both at outreach events and continuously with station clients. Participants will be expected to assist in preparation, fundraising, set-up and public education for events. CCC participants will be expected to act as representatives for the station, to uphold their vision and goals, and ensure that our clients’ needs are addressed.
