Welcome,

Educators

Welcome to CWF’s WILD EDUCATION program.

Young people today are less connected to the natural world than at any other point in human history. Without a connection to nature, future generations will be less likely to develop a conservation ethic when they grow up.

As an educator you can strengthen this natural connection. WILD Education is a professional development program that trains educators like you to become certified instructors of Project WILD, Below Zero and WILD about Sports.

These interdisciplinary programs provide a toolbox of interactive indoor and outdoor activities to engage youth in learning about and taking action for wildlife and the environment.

Given the time of year, our focus right now is on Below Zero.

Below Zero Activities You Can Do Outside

CWF’s Below Zero interdisciplinary program provides a toolbox of interactive indoor and outdoor activities to engage youth in learning about and taking action for wildlife and the environment. It’s a great tool for educators tasked with inspiring nature connection in the winter, or for groups just looking for ideas for outdoor play.

Here’s a sample of the kind of activities you will gain access to through your below zero training you can implement in your classroom:

PUT THE “WIN” IN WINTER!

Where do dragonflies go when the snow flies? What keeps Wood Frogs from croaking in winter? How do Polar Bears find comfort in Arctic climes? Most Canadians live with snow and ice for at least five months of the year, yet we know surprisingly little about life in frozen environments. Put on your favourite long johns and join us on an amazing sub-zero safari into the winter world of wildlife with Below Zero!

Taking part in a Below Zero workshop is a great way to enhance your teaching skills as an educator. As part of this hands-on training, you’ll learn from environmental education experts and receive a print activity guide featuring 46 indoor and outdoor activities and games to help engage youth in learning about and taking action for wildlife and the environment in winter. Enter today for your chance to win a Below Zero workshop for you and nine fellow teachers/educators delivered by a CWF-trained facilitator (or choose any of our WILD Education training workshops).
