| Details: | Join the Canadian Wildlife Federation Tuesday, April 15 at 12:00 p.m. ET to learn about some of Canada’s moths (and butterflies, too!). Our special guest, Christian Schmidt, Ph.D., a research scientist, will take us into the world of moth biology, how they live and profile some Canadian species. Christian will also share ways we can help these remarkable wild neighbours in our own outdoor spaces. We hope you can join us! Chris has been fascinated by moths and butterflies since childhood. His formative years were spent chasing insects in the grasslands and mountains of western Canada, and for the past 18 years he has worked as a research scientist at the Canadian National Collection of Insects in Ottawa. His research focuses on North American moths – what species are found where, how to identify them, their evolutionary relationships, and describing species new to science. He served on the Committee of the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada and enjoys native plant gardening and other urban practices that increase insect biodiversity. |
