Press Release

April 26, 2013

The Canadian Wildlife Federation and Johnson Inc., one of Canada’s leading providers of insurance products and plan benefits, are proud to announce a matching gift campaign starting March 4th  2013, that will protect Canada’s wildlife and wild habitats.  Johnson has pledged to TRIPLE member donations up to $100,000 this year. The funds raised through this campaign will support CWF’s work to conserve Canada’s rich natural legacy and will fund important research and public outreach aimed at protecting Canada’s at-risk species and habitats.

“This amazing support from Johnson will have a transformative impact on our work,” said Wade Luzny, CEO and Executive Vice President of the Canadian Wildlife Federation.  “With Johnson’s commitment today, our ability to inspire our supporters to protect Canada’s most precious resources will be significantly increased.  We are immensely grateful for their support.”

For more than 125 years, Johnson has provided quality home and auto insurance and plan benefits to Canadians.  Johnson started as a family-owned business in Newfoundland and attributes their success to their focus on service and benefits, and dedication to putting their people and customers first.

“At Johnson we’re committed to doing the right thing for our customers and for the environment, and we are proud to support the important work done by CWF with this matching gift campaign,” said Renée Dyer, Vice President Consulting and Plan Benefits, Johnson.

The support received from Johnson and CWF members will go towards engaging Canadians in conservation, and create leading scientific research into at-risk species and their habitats.

“More than 600 species in Canada are at-risk, including the Woodland Caribou, the Beluga Whale, and the Piping Plover,” said Luzny.  “The matching gift from Johnson will ensure that we continue our efforts to help at-risk species, and to find balanced, collaborative solutions to the challenges all wildlife face.”
