Q & A
Kerri Stupak

My Blog
Hometown:
Winnipeg, MB
What conservation issue is closest to your heart?
I would say wildlife management. Balancing the needs of wildlife and the needs of humans is important in the now and the future.
What are you hoping to learn from CCC?
I have high expectations. I expect to have lots of fun, gain new field skills, learn more about conservation, expand my network and build connections and make lifelong friends. I’m looking forward to learning about wildlife conservation in an area of Canada I am not as familiar with.
Who/what inspired you to care about conservation?
No one in particular. Wildlife biology, dinosaurs, trees and the natural world in general have always been interesting to me. We are so lucky to live in Canada with the wilderness we have and I want future generations to be able to enjoy it like we can today.
If you could sit down with anyone in the world and have tea or coffee, who would it be? And why?
I’d say Bob Ross, because he’s really chill and watching his painting shows put me at peace. I imagine while talking to him I’d get some excellent life advice.

My Experience So Far

Putting the Fun in Fundy

Stage 1

For Group 11 CCC members, the adventure begins in New Brunswick, where members set off for a paddling adventure on the Bay of Fundy. There they will practice their paddling and wilderness camp skills before setting off to kayak from Back Bay to Oak Bay, through Passamaquoddy Bay via the lower St. Croix River. Along the way the team will have the opportunity to be awe-struck by the scenery while enjoying all that Fundy has to offer.

Conservation Field Learning

Stage 2

Location: PEI

Hosting Organization: PEI Wildlife Federation

Description: CCC member field learning with the PEI Wildlife Federation will be focused on a variety of projects, including agriculture, stream enhancement, the Atlantic Salmon Population Baseline Watershed Survey in Hay River, fishing of green crab, monitoring Giant Irish Moss beds, eelgrass monitoring in Basin Head Marine Protected area, coastal restoration and conducting outreach and guided tours in a Marine Protected Environment.

Timeline: May 13 – Aug 2
