It takes an average of 17 trees to make just one tonne of newsprint. This alone is a lot, and it's just a fragment of the paper Canadians use every day!
• Find out how much paper the average household in your community consumes. Suggest to your neighbours that trees be planted to replace at least a portion of that amount.
• If you like, involve your municipality in your replanting plan. City or town representatives may know of a perfect site for planting.
• Contact local media to help you connect with the public.
• Remember: You can rescue saplings and trees from land developments.
