Q & A
Jesse Baraniuk

My Blog
Hometown:
Edmonton, Alberta
What conservation issue is closest to your heart?
Ocean related issues have been on my mind since I was young, even though I’ve lived nowhere near an ocean.
What are you hoping to learn from CCC?
To meet new people, and to learn about the natural world.
Who/what inspired you to care about conservation?
Growing up camping, I gained an appreciation for nature at a young age, and with that came a conservation based way of thinking.
If you could sit down with anyone in the world and have tea or coffee, who would it be? And why?
There are so many people that have lived through a number of important world events, or would have valuable life experiences to share, that I’m unable to choose. I also have chosen not to engage in idolatry. I believe it can cloud one’s perspective, and possibly even lead to disappointment if said idol is not what one thinks they are.

My Experience So Far

Rambling Through the Rocky Mountains

Stage 1

The group dubbed “The Mountain Goats” will enjoy a challenging journey of self-discovery and exploration, hiking through the terrain of the spectacular Canadian Rocky Mountains. They will travel distances each day, sharing responsibilities including campsite management, cooking, navigation and group leadership as they follow the footsteps of inspired artists and adventurers, seekers and sages. This is more than learning the technical skills of backpacking – this is an adventure designed to illustrate why the wilderness environment is the best teacher.
