Where: Algonquin Provincial ParkThis weekend program will visit Group of Seven sketching sites on Algonquin Park’s Canoe Lake and connect with the whole Tom Thomson story associated with buildings on the lake. These visits will speak to the need for a sense of place through lakes, rivers and trails throughout Canada. Important campfire and curricular ideas for teaching history, anthropology and literature on the trail and program evaluation will be covered. There will also be time devoted to menu planning and route selection.
When: TBDWhere: Quetico Provincial ParkIn this one of a kind journey participants will paddle the boundary waters between Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park. The program will include lively discussions about conservation techniques, hands on experience with sharing wilderness travel with a larger audience and instruction on group facilitation. This experience is limited to 7 people due to group size limits in both the Boundary Waters and Quetico.
